Ecobuild 2018

blog, cultural stories, design event/exhibition

It’s been a while since I last managed to visit Ecobuild, but finally this year I managed to wrangle a one-day visit. I had missed it! Ecobuild is one of my favourite construction events! I find it incredibly inspiring and it always renews my faith in the industry.

Ecobuild is the UK’s leading exhibition and conference for construction, design and energy in the sustainable built environment. This year it was bought by Futurebuild, so things have been changed a bit: it is now more compact and the thematic districts are different.

Off Grid Home in Extremadura
Architects: Ábaton
Location: Cáceres, Spain
Completed: 2013

I am always interested in projects that showcase reuse, sustainability and energy efficiency, and this house seems to have them all in spades. Here Ábaton transforms an old stone stable in a remote area into a completely self-sufficient family home.
